Greetings Partners & Friends,

I hope that you have had a chance to read the email I sent out on Saturday night, and are looking to see how you help the survivors of the devastating Java earthquake. I received this update from our partner on the ground...

"...You may have known the devastating impact the earthquake in Jogya has caused. now more than 3,500 people are reported dead, many are still trapped under the debris, shouting for help, many are seriously injured. However, we believe God has His sovereign will and plan beyond all the disasters.

For sure, He opens wide doors open for the churches to help. We are
sending several team to Jogya, namely:

1. First team are leaving today with our intercessors for praying and
investigating

2. A team of pastors and Moslem clerics with donation and to hold prayer for the city and prayer of repentance to God

3. Our medical team with the ambulance will also be going, carrying
medicine, doctor and para medics

4. On Wednesday afternoon we actually plan to hold a Special Day of Prayer for our City and Nation, we will add a national prayer of repentance with the Moslem's and other religions as well at Tunjungan Plaza.

I have received a lot of requests from different groups of people. From Megawati's Disaster Relief for medical supplies and medicine, churches, Moslem's, and other social organizations. We will work together as a team. Thank you very much for your love and concern for Indonesia..."

As I spoke with the team around midnight last night, they had just
finished loading up a truck full of supplies and we heading back on the six hour journey to the affected regions.

They have several partner and sister churches in the region and these will be used for temporary shelters. Government soup kitchens have been setup around the areas, and FTH will partner to plug in the gaps with water, rice, and medical teams.

As I spoke with the team by phone over the weekend, I was struck by the importance she placed on sending prayer teams into the devastation first - to intercede in the spiritual realms as they put the hands to whatever practical use they could.

God indeed hears the cries of anguish of the Indonesian people, but how much more effective are the prayers of God's covenant people in this earth, who step in the gap and help lift the burden at this critical time.

Please I urge you to take the time to add your prayers to this situation, and as you are led to give generously to the JAVA EARTHQUAKE APPEAL.

EMAIL ALERT - Sent Sunday 28/5/06 10.22pm

Many of you may have heard the terrible news about the earthquake
yesterday in Indonesian, and the tragic loss of life. Survivors still live in the fear of a volcanic eruption as they search for family members and friends.

Right now, FTH has a partner ministry on the ground providing aid and shelters to the survivors of the Earthquake. The organisation was instrumental in our Tsunami Relief to the troubled Banda Aceh region. By God's providence, our partners were in the area assessing how they could help in the event of the volcanic eruption, and so God's people are right there when they are needed.

FTH is asking for urgent prayer covering for rescue workers from all teams and organisations as they diligently search for survivors. Food and water is a basic essential which we are looking for a local source to obtain.

FTH is now accepting donations for the JAVA EARTHQUAKE APPEAL.
