For an alarming number of people around the world – hunger is a daily fact of life. The United Nations (FAO) gave an interim report on 19th June estimating that the number of people suffering chronic hunger will rise 11% this year to 1.02 billion people. The U.N. estimates that approximately 16,000 children die every day from hunger-related causes... that means in the three minutes it takes to read this letter, 30 more children will have passed away!
Despite making great strides in the fight against hunger through the 1980’s and the early 1990’s, the U.N. admits that escalating food prices and other factors are actually increasing the proportion of the world’s hungry people. Press releases from various U.N. departments indicate a growing desperation in their bid to distribute food, leaving you with a sense they are being overwhelmed by this growing disaster.
They are losing the fight against hunger.
If the combined might of humanity, through the United Nations, is struggling with this global catastrophe, you might be tempted to think that you personally could not make a difference. But God has never asked us to do everything... God just wants us to do something!
That is the lesson we can learn from Matthew 13 and the miraculous feeding of the 5000. The disciples appear intimidated by the vast need, hoping the problem would disappear by itself. With a simple command to feed the hungry, Jesus shows us that we should recognise and meet the needs of others. The demonstration of using the boy’s lunch teaches us not to worry about what is needed but rather on what we have. We see that our small supply in His hands - in a heavenly partnership - will feed the multitudes.
Jesus has the same expectation for us today –- that we will do our best, and let God do the rest.

1 Indian take-away, you can take away hunger for 100 abandoned Indian children! For the cost of 1 burger, you can provide 100 hot and nutritious meals for hungry children across the world!
It sounds miraculous, but it is made possible through a team effort: partner ministries donating food free of charge - distributed by strong, established indigenous ministries we know and trust. We simply need to ensure the transportation costs are covered and then large shipping containers are filled with 275,000 meals and shared with those who need it most.

Will you help us to reach out to more desperate and vulnerable children?
Since 2005 we have been providing daily meals to 20,700 children through 18 ministries in 13 countries, including Uganda, Sudan, Thailand and Cambodia. We are helping children who have been orphaned by war, disease, natural and man-made disasters. Children, who come from poor families and who, without Christian care and protection, would be desperately needy and hungry.
The children are receiving meals that are a combination of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, minerals and vitamins. Pre-packaged in a way that is easy and safe to transport, the meals are simple to cook and culturally acceptable worldwide. These highly nutritious meals are designed to rescue the lives of severely malnourished and starving children, and to form the foundation of a healthy child’s daily diet.
Our local ministry partners are not only providing these hot nutritious meals every day, but are also providing free education. Education of a quality and standard that is often the envy of government schools in their area. And most importantly the children are shown Christ’s love through care, comfort and the compassion of our ministry partners.
